All in Theology
The promises have been made. A sign is given. Now the covenant is made.
These two are not distinct descriptions! They are the same for “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matt 12:34; Luke 6:45). Vocal ascent requires plenary obedience by fearing the Lord (v. 4). The man who does these things shall not be moved (v. 5). Again Christ taught this in the parable of the two houses (Matt 7:24-27).
This event is the basis of God’s justification for all people. This is not merely the establishment of Israel but God’s bringing about a people who belong to Him (Rom 3:29-4:3).
The Lord is the refuge of these (v. 6) who do seek Him. Salvation comes for God’s Israel and the Lord is a rewarded of those who “seek Him” (Heb 11:6). Let us rejoice and be glad
These are the types of polarizing questions that I love. Not that I enjoy polarization in general. Surely there are better things to do with ones time. But if you're in the corner, reporting that you're in the corner is hardly wrong. If theology is truly going to be practical, then occasionally our practices will be different. Today's questions most certainly will highlight some of the distinct features of my theology and its application to civil legislation and moral integrity.
