At somewhere over 50 books reviewed, after starting in the March timeframe, the sheer number of pages and topics are staggering. Admittedly, these are my Top 5. They are controversial, thought provoking, and utterly excellent for what I needed this year.
What would you do today if you knew that Jesus were to return this afternoon? Calvin replies that he would do exactly what he would do any other day, just as Paul encouraged the Thessalonians to continue in their callings with excellence in view of Christ’s return (2 Thess. 3:1–13).
Through the lips of a sinful preacher, the triune God is actually judging, justifying, reconciling, renewing, and conforming sinners to Christ’s image. God created the world by the words of his mouth and by his speech also brings a new creation into being. July is not yet done. But I won't be producing any more book reviews this month. So here was my month of reviews. A couple Bibles, a couple theology books and a whole lot of page turning.
I cannot recommend this volume highly enough for individuals desiring to set aside cardboard “Calvinism” and give a fellow brother in Christ, namely John Calvin, the time of day to express his thoughts in context and practicality.
