Picture Perfection

This blog will consist of slightly more than 7000 words...in other words, 7 pictures. Simple math, seeing how one picture is worth 1000 words! From Thursday to today, our week in pictures: enjoy!

Thursday morning brunch: Cinnamon Roll Waffles

My in-laws left their waffle maker at our house after Kenzie's Birthday brunch. So naturally I decided to use it for a pintrest recipe. Thursday morning the kiddos and I were joining a couple other ladies & kiddos to have wonderful speciality coffees graciously handmade by Julie - a perfect time to attempt a new recipe! Enthusiasm trumps fear, especially when delicious food items are the subject. The "professional grade" stamp on the waffle maker only served to fuel my delusions of baking grandeur, and in no time flat the cinnamon roll waffles had been made and iced! My husband refused to try them, on the grounds of being a cinnamon ROLL connoisseur, but according to everyone else, he simply missed out.

Judah's wound, on Friday.

Our house is "in-between" stages. Our toddler climbs, jumps off (any) things, runs - usually backwards - and dances. Not quite a "toddler". Our...infant?....still has no concept of how knees and legs can power crawling, but boy-howdy. Little man army crawls at lightning speed. This has given him unusually powerful forearms. Forearms that scoot around over 20lbs of body mass...and that pull all manner of dangerous items on top of his little body. Like the napkin holder. Or the wooden puzzle with nob handles. Or whatever it was that clocked him in the face and gave him this gnarly bruise. Friday.

An Artist is Born. Kenzie, on Saturday

Our Saturday was plan-free, aka a cleaning Saturday! We reorganized/cleaned/purged the pantry. I weeded, mulched and raked leaves. Joshua deep cleaned our stovetop coils and ... what do you call the "catch-all" bowls underneath the coils?...he cleaned those too! We also made blue-cheese burgers and raided the clearance aisles at a nearby Target. How did we manage all that with two kids afoot? Strategic introduction of new toys - this easel has been gathering dust in K's closet for months...waiting for the perfect debut. Smashing success!

Sunday's Down Time - Monthly Folders for the Church Nursery

Honestly, true confession, I love Sundays - and that's a recent development. With what I am learning about life as a Christian, the time spent at church is a joy, and a Sunday set aside for morning service and evening Bible study is a great day indeed! It does help that Sunday is also a true day of rest....we pick up a donut/taco breakfast, eat a leftover lunch, K naps at her Mimi's and Joshua watches Judah so I can nap, read, relax, ...or organize!

Walkin' the Talk - he kept saying he wanted this haircut....Monday

What words will suffice? I like it. He likes it. We collaborated on cutting it, and it's done. Monday Madness!

In theory Joshua was in favor of me reading to K each day (slowly working our way through the Chronicles of Narnia). In practice, she now equates reading time with cuddle time...and climbed quite effortlessly into Joshua's lap when he sat down to study! Not sure he is still so enthusiastic a supporter of 'toddler-time' reading.

Tuesday - How else would one read at our house?

Fashion-Fun Wednesday - trying my hand at "re-mixing" an outfit.

I've never been fashion forward...and I don't honestly plan on becoming so anytime soon - or ever. However. I would really like to cut back on the amount of hangers in my closet and learn how to wear pieces multiple times in different ways. To that end I've visited a couple of fashion blogs and decided to make Wednesday my "re-mixing" debut. These are "old" clothes worn to make a new outfit - and I decided to celebrate by fixing my hair and putting on makeup. Such an event merits a picture - as it won't happen to terribly often, promise! Wednesday, and an end to the week in pictures! See you next week.
