“Give us today our daily bread”
Meditation 2: “Today” is Perpetual
We know that God is gracious to give. But God has also promised to give perpetually. Every day is “today”. And each and every day we are to pray to God for the means of provision for that day. Though these provisions are usually physical, Jesus taught us that the true essentials of life are spiritual (Matt 6:25).
Many in modern times are able and prone to “store up” future reserves. In previous times people were dependent every day. God has promised to provide when we are dependent on Him and lift our needs unto Him. We are to live in the knowledge that God provides daily even the things we have stored.
