“But deliver us from the evil”
Meditation 5: “The Evil” is Specific
The second important lesson is that evil is specific. The devil is the adversary of God. And thus the devil is the adversary of God’s people. He looks to destroy us but our faith in Christ delivers us (1 Pet 5:8-9).
Elsewhere the devil is shown to be the accuser of God’s people (Zech 3:1). But once again Jesus (Rom 8:34) and the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:26) work out our deliverance by interceding for us before the Father. So we are taught to pray that God deliver His people in accordance with His promises.
Joshua Torrey is the sole proprietor of Torrey Gazette (don't tell Alaina) and the fullness of its editorial process. That means everything wrong with TG can legitimately be blamed on him.
