Lord's Prayer Meditation: “Lead”

“And lead us not into temptation”

Meditation 1: “Lead”

This portion of the Lord’s Prayer provokes many pertinent questions. If we are to ask God to “not lead” us into temptation, does that mean that He might? James tells us that the Lord does not tempt us. In fact, nothing but our own nature bring us to temptation (Jam 1:13-14).

So when we are left to our own accord temptations appear in us. And this is not uncommon to man. But God is still our deliverer (1 Cor 10:13). So this portion of the prayer is accurately a prayer of deliverance. This is how we should pray.
