“Our Father in heaven”
Meditation 1: “Our” is Personal
The opening word of the prayer is the opening focus this week. The personal nature of the word “our” cannot be understated. It is important to communicate the essential relationship that God has to our children. He in fact seeks to be “their God” (Gen 17:8). This promise has not changed (Jer 31:33).
When we pray this prayer, we must first acknowledge that God is a God of promise to us. And He most certainly will be faithful to His promises. Jesus taught us to pray God’s promises back to Him. This is how we should pray.
