BBC: Ephesians 1:6

BBC: Ephesians 1:6

To the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. - Ephesians 1:6

This verse is inherently attached to the previous concept. Just as “in love” the church was predestined, so now “in the beloved” there has been blessing. Christ is “the Beloved” who in His life is “the love” (1 John 4:8) by which the church is sanctified.

The blessing “in Christ” (Eph 1:3) is not of a different nature from the blessed “in the Beloved”. Instead this is the completion. This blessing is the bestowal of justifying favor and mercy.
