The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (after GKC/Lewis)

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (after GKC/Lewis)

Like Valkyrie with whitewashed souls
They spread their blood-forged wings
And stamped the land with footprints
Black as Mordor's shadow-fiends.

Their horn rang out through all the earth
With bloated, tuneless news
That night had come to reign the world
Campaigning against the dew.

Their boots were tall, their whips were strong,
Their arms were all as one.
As one their arm stretched heavenward
To juice the lemon sun.

And Numenor stood helpless
As her sons with tangled lives
Succumbed to false ambitions,
Losing every unfought fight.

As fair earth watched in agony,
Fell fingers touched the sun.
Shadows poised to penetrate
A light ne'er reached or won.

New Babylon exulted, yet
E'en as the jeering spread,
Their cruel arm reached Deep Heaven...
And pulled it on their heads.

The vengeance of the Stars provoked
Descended like midday
With laughter of a different kind
And fear that conquers shame.

A thousand years the night had claimed
Its fated length to rule,
Yet at the end of twelve, it fled
With its enforcers, fools.

A beauty reckless as the sun
Cannot be touched by hate.
All shadows flee before the stars
As evil men from Fate.

Men grow too old for memory
And lose their faith in sight.
But I shall never grow too old
To wonder at the light.
