13 Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him!
Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
14 from men by your hand, O Lord,
from men of the world whose portion is in this life.
You fill their womb with treasure;
they are satisfied with children,
and they leave their abundance to their infants.
15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
In concluding this psalm there is a contrast of deliverance and genuine rest. The Lord is the provider of earthly deliverance for His people. From the wickedness of man God reaches and delivers us even in this life.
But our happiness is in the Lord Himself. Righteousness is found in His face (Psa 11:7; 13:1). The Lord preserves us when we lie down (Psa 3:5) and we shall surely wake up again in satisfaction with God.
