How's Your Bible Reading Going?

I'm don't know if any of you readers planned to read through the Bible this year but if you did we are almost 1/4 of the way through 2014 which means (depending on the Bible reading plan) you are either in the heart of the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) or just about to finish it. As I wrote in a post at the end of 2013, I am reading through a Chronological Bible Reading Plan this year. This means that I have just finished Deuteronomy and am currently reading Joshua.

My inspiration for this came from a sermon I listened to on podcast last week by Douglas Wilson. The church he pastors is currently going through a series named "Bedrock Discipleship" in which each sermon highlights and teaches on a different portion of the Christian walk. The first sermon in this series was on Bible reading and I really gleaned a lot from it. Considering that getting through the first 5 books of the Bible can be frustrating at times, I thought I would post the sermon here as a bit of encouragement to keep pressing on in your Bible reading!

If you don't have the time to watch/listen to the whole sermon that much of what he says about reading in general can be found on a post I wrote last week here.

It really encouraged me and I hope it serves in a similar way for you too!

Food for thought.
