BBC: Genesis 6:14-15
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. – Genesis 6:14-15
In the simplicity of the text, the dimension of the ark seem unique to all structures in the Scriptures. The ark itself was built large enough for the task it was to provide: the deliverance of creation.
Typologically, this building of the ark foreshadows the fulfillment found in Israel’s future deliverer Moses (Exo 2:3, 5). There too an ark was built for safe passage from judgment by water.
In greater typology, the greater savior, Jesus Christ, declared that He was going to “make rooms” (John 14:1-3). In this Christ spoke of Himself being the ark of deliverance.
