BBC: Genesis 5:21-24

When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. – Genesis 5:21-24

Within the context of the genealogy Enoch stands out amongst his family. Enoch is the seventh from Adam (Jude 14) and is delivered from death. His is described as having “walked with God” in a fashion like his father Adam (Gen 3:8). Adam who had not died had seen his line return to walk with God.

Enoch was in fact a prophet of God (Jude 14-15) speaking against the perverse mixing of God’s people (Gen 6:4; Jude 3-4). The destruction that follows in the flood is the Lord coming in judgment. Enoch was caught up before this destruction.
