Life may be short, sweet, long, burdensome, or any sort found in a huge list of additional adjectives. In our house, on any given day, we can come close to exhausting that list! Ok - hyperbole. What we do strive for, on a daily basis, is a house given over to the honor and glory of our triune God; Father, Spirit, and Son. Hopefully you will enjoy some of our adventures that will be chronicled here. To inaugurate "my" portion of the site (Joshua's blog has been up and running even before the inception of this gazette), I've given you all a tasty treat from a favorite author - on the subject of life as it so happens! See below - and check back soon for more...of just what? Well, time will tell!
Life
by George Herbert
I made a posy, while the day ran by:
Here I will smell my remnant out, and tie
My life within this band.
But time did beckon to the flowers, and they
By noon most cunningly did steal away,
And wither'd in my hand.
My hand was next to them, and then my heart:
I took, without more thinking, in good part
Time's gentle admonition.
Who did so sweetly death's sad taste convey,
Making my mind to smell my fatal day;
Yet sugring the suspicion.
Farewell dear flowers, sweetly your time ye spent,
Fit, while ye liv'd, for smell or ornament,
And after death for cures.
I follow straight without complaints or grief,
Since if my scent be good, I care not if
It be as short as yours.
