Matthew 16:27-28 - Don Preston Review #14

27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.  -  Matthew 16:27-28

Note: Don Preston is a full preterist and therefore his teaching cannot receive full or blind acceptance. His many videos on YouTube are worthy of listening and interacting with in a timeline manner.

I am not currently an amillennialist. One could say I transferred over to postmillennialism with few theological changes. The two sides are not always that far apart from each other.

@2:48: I have no problem with Mr Preston tearing down one amillennial interpretation of this passage. But there is nothing stating that this is the conclusive amillennial view. I know many amillennial preterists (including my wife) and don't feel this can be dropped on all of them.

This really is a lengthy recap of the previous videos. Mr Preston is correct in his evaluation of Matthew and Daniel but he is wrongfully applying this against all amillennial theology. This argument stands hard against dispensational theology but the forms of preterism found in amillennial and postmillennial writers are able to withstand it.

Preston's Ponderings: I was raised as a fifth generation amillennialist. However, as I studied for myself, I came to realize that the Bible does not teach that view! Amillennialists appeal to Matthew 16:27 is used to prove a future coming of the Lord at the end of time, while verse 28 is all about Pentecost.
