Announcing "Writing Poems in the Shadow of Death"

Announcing "Writing Poems in the Shadow of Death"

It’s our great privilege to announce the availability of collected works by Aaron Everingham under the title “Writing Poems in the Shadow of Death.” This collection is being offered at cost to further the posthumous preservation of Aaron’s writing.

In an effort to reproduce Aaron’s poetry faithfully, this collection retains the unique physical formatting that Aaron used on his website. This includes unique spacing, alignments, italics, and “hidden characters” that were used in place of empty new lines.

In attempting to name the collection, Aaron himself seems to have provided the perfect choice in his aptly named poem “Writing Poems in the Shadow of Death, or, Narcissistic Effluence.“ Here, both the poet and reader are challenged to treat existing poems as the source for discovering and finding the author. Nothing better could encapsulate our attempt to preserve the genius, humanity, and uniqueness of Aaron Everingham. We hope you enjoy this collection.

Writing Poems in the Shadow of Death, or, Narcissistic Effluence

Write all your poems

with your mind

governed by the idea

that should you die tonight

this is the last thing you will have written and someone might try to find within

its purposeful words a reason for their loss of you
