“Our Father in heaven”
Meditation 4: “Father” of Discipline
After understanding the blessing of a Father of provision, it is important to know that God also provides discipline. Solomon knew we would struggle with this concept (Prov 3:11-12). He encourages us to “not lose heart” but instead to understand that this discipline only proves that God truly loves us.
The author of Hebrews added to Solomon that God’s true children endure discipline (Heb 10:7-11). God does this for our good. In due time, we will enjoy righteousness and peace because we are truly loved by God. In this prayer, we are praying to a Father of discipline.
Joshua Torrey is the sole proprietor of Torrey Gazette (don't tell Alaina) and the fullness of its editorial process. That means everything wrong with TG can legitimately be blamed on him.
