Lord's Prayer Meditations: “Prayer” is Intimate

“This, then is how you should pray”

Meditation 4: “Prayer” is Intimate

The Jewish day was filled with prayer. Prayers for all occasions were common and practiced throughout the day. It became common for Rabbis to develop a prayer for his students to reflect his teaching and focus on God’s law. When Jesus Christ is asked by His disciples how to pray (Luke 11:1) He does in fact give them an example.

This example sets forth the intimacy of Christ’s view and dependency upon God the Father. As Jesus valued prayer (Mark 1:35; etc) so also are we to value this intimate time with the Father. The entirety of the Lord’s Prayer brings us closer to the Father and places us in His care.
