Meditation 5: “Heaven” is Here

Since heaven is a created place (Gen 1:1), it is important to understand that God’s presence makes any places or person a small part of “heaven”. Heaven is in affect the “temple of God” (Isa 6:1; 1 Cor 6:19; 2 Cor 6:16). In a sense then, God’s saints are His “heaven on earth”.

Jesus, in an often misunderstood passage, taught this very truth (John 14:2). The place Christ was going to build was in fact Himself the living temple (John 2:19-21). When we dwell in Him, the Holy Spirit dwells in us (John 14:17). God the Father has worked His kingdom presence through His Son and Spirit. We are to pray that God’s kingdom and temple would grow through conversions to the gospel.
