Matthew 16:27-28 - Don Preston Review #32

27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.  -  Matthew 16:27-28

Note: Don Preston is a full preterist and therefore his teaching cannot receive full or blind acceptance. His many videos on YouTube are worthy of listening and interacting with in a timeline manner.

@2:18: I benefit slightly from the fact that we studied the Micah version of this in Sunday School recently.

@2:44: This is one of those "check the context" times. Isaiah 3:18 could be a context change for the fulfillment of the passage he mentions. Yet again, I worry that Mr Preston is skipping over the original exile and destruction of Jerusalem.

@5:20: I happened to have memorized this portion of Isaiah a couple years back. Though I can't remember it today word for word, I knew Mr Preston was going here. And I honestly think he is wrong. I think this is a flattening of imagery and historical events. I won't deny that the link looks impressive. And I wouldn't particularly mind if he is correct but I'm just not buying this particular link.

Preston's Ponderings: Jesus' prediction to come in judgment of his suffering and that of his disciples is actually drawn from the Old Testament. The theme of martyr vindication is one of the most overlooked, but incredibly significant themes in the entire study of the last days!
