Matthew 16:27-28 - Don Preston Review #19

27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.  -  Matthew 16:27-28

Note: Don Preston is a full preterist and therefore his teaching cannot receive full or blind acceptance. His many videos on YouTube are worthy of listening and interacting with in a timeline manner.

@1:32: Mr Preston does an excellent job working through this. Many Christians do falsely believe that judgment and salvation don't co-exists. This stems from the lack of knowledge that justification itself is "being judged in the right" and that judgment was crucial to Paul's gospel (Rom 2:16)! However, this doesn't prove that every judgment is a reference to the final judgment, salvation, etc. But I believe Mr Preston does a fine job explaining that this passage is linked.

@2:40: This could all be shown from more passages than could be listed. This is an essential set of points that many believers could apply in general even to the false presumption of two resurrections that is often found in premillennial theology.

@4:20: This is where I could get myself into trouble. I need to be very careful with my words. Most people who believe Matthew 25 has been fulfilled are heretical full preterists. I am in the minority when I say that I believe Matthew 25 can be fulfilled and without denying a future coming and resurrection. Please understand that if I have to chose between 1) Full Preterism and 2) Matthew 25 is not fulfilled, I will chose the later. But I believe I can have both.

I think this chart is absolutely essential to explaining my general position. I see parallels in language also in Matt 24:30-31, 26:64 and 2 Thess 1:7-10.

Preston's Ponderings: In this segment I do a comparison between Matthew 16:27-28 and Matthew 25:31f demonstrating that the motifs, the themes, and subjects are identical. What does this prove? It proves that Matthew 16:27-28 cannot be divided or separated by 1000 years, or 2000 years!
