Hi.

Pardon My Sneezes

Pardon My Sneezes

The Twittersphere recently exploded over the charges of child molestation leveled at - and apparently confirmed by - Josh Duggar. I'm not really here to talk about him, defensively or otherwise. That's material for another post, one which I frankly have no interest in writing. Suffice it to say at the outset that I'm not a fan of the Duggars.

Would you like to know what I am a fan of? Consistency. And I'm seeing precious little of that from the crowd currently crucifying Josh on the "OMG CHRISTIANS SUCK" tree. I'll keep this short and sour. If you belong to the above-mentioned crowd, I have two things for you to stick in your pipe and smoke:

First, where were you people when (as a marked for instance) Lena Dunham was accused of sexually molesting her younger sister? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall, she actually bragged about it in her book, Not That Kind Of Girl. Bragged. But I don't recall her statements producing an uproar half as tempestuous as this.

Could I be forgetting something? Oh, that's right. Dunham is an arch-feminist whose progressivism is about as subtle as Hulk Hogan body-slamming pigs at a Nickleback concert. Maybe that's why y'all were so quiet. Excuse me. (Don’t even get me started on Bill Clinton and Harvey Milk. Just don’t.)

Second, and more importantly, you do realize that using someone's hypocrisy to justify something is feeble at best, and ineffably clownish at worst? Scrolling through my timeline last night, I lost count of the people "reasoning" that since Josh Duggar is a) outspokenly against homosexuality and b) guilty of sexual crimes, then c) "ta-da! homosexuality is vindicated, so STFU, bigots!”

Right. Because that's totally how logic works, y'all.

Pardon my sneezes, but like Detective Del Spooner, "I'm allergic to bullshit."
